Facebook's effort to reassure advertisers

Facebook has finally taken an action to prove the power of social network to its advertisrs after long being questioned on its effectiveness in advertising space and ultimately, capability to generate revenue.
So, it has partnered with a company that has access to retail loyalty cards data to cross-check people who viewed ads on the FB with people who purchased the item at a store. (cross-checking email address of ad viewer with email address of purchaser) That's how FB is going to prove all its naysayers wrong.
I personally think that it is a brilliant way to track their ad performance. I always thought that linking the performance of online advertising to offline sale would be impossilbe. Unlike many people around me, I believe FB will become a very powerful player in the advertising space, with its vast amount of personalized data.
On that note, I really wonder how the result will show as. Well, I guess the results are promising, otherwise FB would not have announced its plan.
