No social media strategy? Career opportunity...
Based on a recent survey (May 2012) from The Ethical Corporation, the vast majority of companies do not have a fully operational social media strategy. This is somewhat shocking given how many high profile companies have been burned by online criticism or all those that remain vulnerable to it. Only 29 percent of respondents said that social media strategy is part of their core strategy but 53 percent said they are still finalizing one or only just started. Of those companies who experienced negative criticism on-line, only 1/4 felt prepared to handle the attack. Clearly, for those professionals at companies who understand the need for a social media strategy and are equipped to build one, there are important career opportunities.
