Never Order a Drink [From a Bartender] Again Thanks to Coaster App

Why didn’t I think of this?!  Coaster, a new – and in my humble opinion, genius – app, allows San Francisco (and hopefully soon, New York as they’re looking to expand bars!) bar-goers to forego the frustrating standing-in-line-forever-to-get-the-bartender’s-attention process by simply ordering drinks, and tipping, via your phone.  When your drinks are ready, you receive a push notification with a unique identifying code that you show to the bartender (to ensure someone else isn’t getting your drinks) when you pick your drinks up.  This app also solves for the perpetual “I forgot to close my tab out and need to retrieve my credit card Monday” incidents as all payments are conducted via the app.  “Coaster streamlines the order and drink-making process, since bartenders can make drinks that have already been ordered while patrons in line figure out what they want. It means better tips, since users can choose to pay from right within the app. It also means no dead or declined credit cards holding up things, and no cards left at the bar at the end of the night.”  I would venture to guess that bar patrons may end up spending more money this way due to the convenience of obtaining and paying for drinks.  From the bar’s perspective, this app could certainly solve for some logistical issues bartenders face over the course of the night – for example, opening/closing tabs, which cause delays in serving other patrons.

  1. This is a phenomenal idea! I wonder how many bars will pick up on this though. Getting into San Fran is one thing, but getting out of California is another thing altogether...
