SoLoMo is a new concept to me. I looked up in Wikipedia and it turns out that the 'So' here is Social,
'Lo' is local, and 'Mo' is mobile. So it is a combination of social media and mobile device with local entries. It become easier to understand after we get a knowledge about these information above. I am surprised at how close this concept is related to our daily life after reading the following article, and I hope you will also enjoy reading it!

It can be hard to keep up with the latest buzz words flying around the
digital marketing world. Social, local and mobile or “SoLoMo” is the
latest one and now is the major focus for industry trends.
SoLoMo
is the union of social networking with local-based businesses and
companies through the power of mobile marketing. Having a mobile website
and presence is becoming mandatory for local businesses in order to
connect to customers in their immediate area; we already know how Google feels about the power of mobile, now we have the latest buzz words to follow.
The
magnitude of users and engagement levels on social media sites like
Twitter and Facebook have steadily increased over the last few years. Twitter currently has 140 million United States users
while Facebook has 845 million active users monthly. These have become
tired-and-true ways to communicate with your audience, and businesses
have adapted this method to attract and engage customers.
The power
of location-based marketing is the driving force behind this local buzz
word. When customers provide their address or let a company know their
location from a tablet or smartphone, they receive location-based
marketing through mobile advertisements or local deals on websites like
Groupon, Living Social, Google Offers or SCVNGR. It is estimated that 70
million mobile coupons worth a total of $2.4 billion will be used in
2013, a significant increase from 200,000 used in 2009.
Greg Sterling, a senior analyst from a San Francisco-based consultancy group Opus Research, believes mobile devices are what will increase the buzz
around SoLoMo. “It’s about getting nearby information on demand,
wherever you may be,” he says. The most important part of this quote is
“on demand.” For example, when customers choose a restaurant, they don’t
want to wait for a browser to open or to figure out which restaurant
they are closest too. That information should be laid out in front of
them to choose from, which is what the local deal websites provide.
Smartphones
and tablet devices give you instant access to your favorite websites,
apps, movies and music. The list is endless, but SoLoMo combines all
three for constant contact with your favorite local businesses who
utilize your favorite social networks that can all be found on your
preferred mobile device.
Mobstac
has helped several companies mobilize their websites throughout
multiple industries. Mobilize your website for greater access to all
apps and networking sites that are becoming social, local and mobile,
your business will thank you.
