Oh ZocDoc, how I love thee, let me count the ways

I came across this article the other day and it reminded me, yet again, that I need to book my annual Doctor visits.  ZocDoc: Revolutionizing the way we find doctors

If you are at all like me, scheduling doctors appointments is generally something that remains on my to do list for months, actually, let's be honest, over a year.  Not because I don't like doctors or am scared of them, but because it used to be hard to find a doctor in network and as for how good that doctor would actually be and whether or not the doctor was taking new patients?  Well, all of that was a crapshot that entailed significant time spent on the phone or looking through a 100+ page list of in plan practitioners sent by the insurance company.  No thanks.  I work in a totally open office, so in order to make these calls in privacy (so the VP I sit next to doesn't overhear my scheduling the lady doctor visit) I have to go into the conference room, which means no multitasking and not having my calendar in front of me.

Enter ZocDoc.  I love you ZocDoc, so so much. I've known about ZocDoc for a about 2 years.  But only used it once before to find a doctor who I then called to schedule an appointment.  For some reason back then (a year ago) I didn't trust the internet enough to book my appointment online or that they had my insurance right.  But after seeing this article and looking at my to do list, I used ZocDoc yesterday to schedule several appointments with conveniently located doctors who have great reviews from the convenience of my desk in the span of mere minutes!

For those of you who are not familiar with ZocDoc I would say it is this:

Yelp + Google Maps + Open Table + In Network Practitioners = ZocDoc

just look at that screen shot from the landing page below!  Clean and intuitive, just how I like it:

It's hard for me to decide what feature I love most:
  • List of in network doctors
  • Plentiful ratings and reviews of each in network doctor (I'll avoid the offices with lackluster staff, thank you very much)
  • Map of where these doctors are located (hello 5 Star Rated doctor 1 block from my office)
  • Book appointments directly online
  • Calendar invite that you can add to your outlook (or other preferred calendar service)
Don't make me choose one, I can't.  And boy am I thrilled to have all of them.

If you similarly have difficulty finding and scheduling Doctor's--EMBA definitely hasn't made life any easier on that front--you have to check this out.  No more do I have to think about the nightmare of finding an in network travel doctor for immunizations (that literally took me months 2.5 years ago) or worry about accidentally selecting a geriatric specialist as my GP.
